Miracle Mile Forum Examines Subway Issues

Join CM LaBonge and Assemblymember Mike Feuer for a day-long discussion of the Wilshire Subway at the "Wilshire Corridor Forum III: Are We Ready for the Subway?"

Hear the latest on the proposal to extend the subway down Wilshire Boulevard to Santa Monica. This third conference in a series will be held on Friday, July 18, 11a-3p at the El Rey Theater, 5515 Wilshire Blvd.

Homeless Event at The Music Box on June 26

Project Y!MBY (Yes! In My Backyard) is holding it's third annual social service expo for homeless people in Hollywood and West Hollywood. They're offering immediate housing and social services for the homeless.

The event will be held on Thursday, June 26, 7a-1p at the Music Box Fonda Theatre, 6126 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, California 90028.

Vote to Support Your Neighborhood

Five of CD4's Neighborhood Councils hold elections within the next two weeks. These local councils are your first line of involvement with the life of your city. It's important to get involved and vote.

On Saturday, June 21, elections will be held for the following neighborhood councils:

  • Greater Griffith Park NC
  • Hollywood Studio District NC
  • MacArthur Park NC
  • Mid-Town North Hollywood NC
  • Wilshire Center / Koreatown NC

The Mid-City WEST Community Council will hold its next election on Tuesday, July 1.

Summer Solstice Hike up Mt. Hollywood

Summer Solstice Hike in Griffith Park

Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 6:00 p.m.

Los Feliz Blvd. and Fern Dell Drive.

Park in Section 9 lot at North end of Fern Dell Drive.

You're invited to join Councilmember Tom LaBonge on a sunset hike to the top of Mt. Hollywood.

The hike is sponsored by Sister Cities of Los Angeles and commemorates the 75th Anniversary of the Screen Actors Guild.

We’ll hike up the Mt Hollywood Hiking Trail…1 1/2 mile to the summit where we’ll view the City of Angels, in 360 degrees of splendor until sunset and enjoy the twilight. Special transportation will be provided for those who may need assistance.

Everyone is encouraged to bring refreshments and food for new friends

The final stop on its journey West, come celebrate the rededication of Robert Paine’s tribute to a Jewish American hero of the Revolutionary War.

The rededication is sponsored by Councilmember Tom LaBonge, the Department of Recreation and Parks, the Pan Pacific Senior Activity Center and the Jewish War Veterans Department of California, Hollywood Post No. 113.
