Tom invites everyone who rides horses in Griffith Park to attend a meeting on Wednesday, October 29 at 6 p.m. at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, 480 Riverside Drive, Burbank, CA 91506. Please join him to talk about a report on the impacts of flower vendors on Forest Lawn Drive and a new water pipeline whose construction will effect trail usage.
Join Tom on Sunday, October 19 at 9:30 a.m. in celebrating the 150th anniversary of the first transcontinental mail service, which reached Los Angeles in October, 1858. A horse-drawn Butterfield-Overland stagecoach will be on-hand at Campo de Cahuenga, 3919 Lankershim Boulevard, North Hollywood, CA., which was one of the stops on its 19th century route. The stagecoach will leave the Campo at 10 a.m. for a rare procession through the modern San Fernando Valley, arriving at the Leonis Adobe in Calabasas at about 5:30 p.m. For more information, click here.
Please join us for the next Griffith Park clean-up on Saturday, October 11 from 8:30 - 10:00 AM. We'll work in Dante's View this time. Meet Tom at the Charlie Turner Trail head at the north end of the Griffith Observatory parking lot.
This is the latest in Tom's series of monthly clean-up effort to restore Griffith Park in the wake of the May 2007 fire. As always, please wear plenty of sunscreen and clothing appropriate for outdoor work.
