Vermont Triangle groundbreaking

IMG_3889 CMs LaBonge and Garcetti were joined by representatives of the CRA and the Los Feliz/East Hollywood communities to break ground on the Vermont Triangle beautification efforts.

Council President Eric Garcetti and Councilmember Tom LaBonge joined city officials and community members in breaking ground for the Vermont Triangle on Friday, which will feature landscaping and seating for pedestrians at the intersection of Hollywood Blvd. and Vermont Ave. This $800,000 streetscape project features landscaping, pedestrian light fixtures, bus benches, trash receptacles and directional signage.

“This is one of those small improvements that will make a big difference for the people who walk through this intersection,” said Councilmember LaBonge. “By adding trees, benches and lighting, we’re creating a place where people can sit and enjoy the city.”

Added Council President Garcetti: "In just a few months, people walking in this neighborhood on their way to the Metro or one of Los Feliz’s shops or restaurants will have a green, shady path along Vermont. We are improving this area block by block and raising the quality of life for everyone in the neighborhood."

This streetscape project will make life easier for anyone who wants to stroll in Los Feliz.

"The Barnsdall Park Transit Oriented District Streetscape, also known as "Vermont Triangle" is a highly problematic and pedestrian-unfriendly intersection,” said Leslie Lambert, CRA/LA Regional Administrator for the Hollywood/ Central Region, whose agency is managing the project. “By improving the triangle and its surrounding area we are providing a safe and environmentally friendly area for commuters taking the Metro Red line and buses.”

Among those on hand were community members such as Nyla Arslanian of the Greater Griffith Park Neighborhood Council.
